The proportional valve usually connects the master cylinder to the rest of the brake system, but sometimes it is independent of the cylinder. This valve is necessary to optimize the front and rear offset (also called brake balance). It is a spring-loaded component that activates when the fluid pressure increases when you depress the brake pedal. Then, the plunger of the valve is released and the fluid rushes into the calibration range.
