1. What does the proportional valve have on my brakes?

The braking system of your car is intricate. The braking system is much more than calipers and rotors. A key aspect of the vehicle braking system is the proportional valve. Understanding the function and importance of the brake proportional valve is essential for understanding how the car works and knowing when to be inspected by a technician.

2. The function and purpose of proportional valve

The proportional valve usually connects the master cylinder to the rest of the brake system, but sometimes it is independent of the cylinder. This valve is necessary to optimize the front and rear offset (also called brake balance). It is a spring-loaded component that activates when the fluid pressure increases when you depress the brake pedal. Then, the plunger of the valve is released and the fluid rushes into the calibration range. Once this happens, the spring will be compressed and the plunger will prevent the fluid from passing through. The uniform distribution of the front and rear pressure of the vehicle is important for safe and reliable braking performance
