John Deere and Dinamica Generale of Italy enter into strategic cooperation in precision feeding technology, and Dinamica Generale also becomes the first strategic partner of the Center for Milk Sustainability.

As the dairy and beef industries continue to move towards data-driven decision-making, precision feeding technology is becoming increasingly important. The collaboration aims to enable farmers to optimize feeding operations, reduce environmental impact, and meet the demands of sustainable practices in the day-to-day management of dairy farms. The use of precision feeding technology can improve feeding efficiency, which has a positive impact on dairy farmers' profits and CO2 emissions per kilogram of milk.

This strategic collaboration will focus on helping customers upgrade their mixer fleets so that more farmers and their nutritionists can benefit from precision feeding technology. It complements Dinamica Generale's existing OEM business. The collaboration will be piloted in the Netherlands and will include Dinamica Generale's existing precision feeding product portfolio, as well as early testing of future solutions to increase the level of automatic data communication between John Deere tractors and feed mixers. The pilot will lay the groundwork for further expansion to other countries.

"Feed costs account for about 60% of the total production cost per kilogram of milk or beef, which can be more than €2,000 per cow per year," says John Deere's production systems manager. "While non-feed costs decrease as herd size increases, feed costs are not affected. Using data-driven technology to feed animals more precisely offers farmers huge potential to save significant input costs.

Dinamica Generale is a major player in precision feeding technology in Europe. Its technology is available for most feed mixers. This includes a weight-based intake solution and an advanced weight- and composition-based solution. Both are connected to the Dinamica Generale DTM Cloud and interface with other companies in the dairy industry.

Milk Sustainability Center---John Deere and DeLaval recently launched the Sustainability Center for Milk, an innovative digital ecosystem designed to make dairy farming more efficient and sustainable. The Milk Sustainability Hub, which will be launched in September 2023, combines crop and animal performance data into a unified tool to help farmers optimize their operations, reduce their environmental impact, and meet the growing demand for sustainable practices in dairy farming.

Dinamica Generale is now the first strategic partner of the Milk Sustainability Hub, complementing and fully exploiting the potential of this digital ecosystem by bringing together field, feed, and animal data. As a result, dairy farmers will benefit from a seamless flow of data from the feed mixer to Dinamica Generale's DTM Cloud and the Milk Sustainability Hub.
