Nissan, Honda, And Mitsubishi Announce Termination Of Merger Plan

SY-PARTS has learned that on February 13, 2025, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan), Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda), and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (Mitsubishi) announced the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for their planned collaboration. This decision follows the termination of the business integration MOU between Nissan and Honda on December 23, 2024. Moving forward, the three companies will focus on cooperation in the fields of intelligent and electrified vehicles, based on the strategic cooperation MOU signed on August 1, 2024. Their goal is to create new value for each company and enhance their overall strength.

The companies held separate press conferences that afternoon to discuss financial reports and merger negotiations. Honda's President, Toshihiro Mibe, and Nissan's President, Makoto Uchida, were present to explain the reasons behind the merger withdrawal.
