Adjust your mind and respond calmly
When the brake system is found to be malfunctioning, the most taboo is to be at a loss. Because once panic is easy to make mistakes, if you use the brakes as the accelerator, it will be bad! Therefore, we must calm down and adjust our mentality. Since it has happened, we must find ways to save ourselves and minimize the loss.
Turn on emergency lights
In an emergency situation where the brakes fail, many drivers only think about how to slow down the vehicle and ignore the reminders to the surrounding vehicles. If while taking deceleration measures, turn on the double flashes and whistle to attract the attention of the surrounding vehicles, the success rate of self-rescue will become higher! Because in this way, the surrounding vehicles will be alert to your car, try to avoid approaching you, or slow down or go around.
Step on the brake pedal more
When the brake pedal is found to be ineffective, it is necessary to subconsciously release it several times and then step on the brake pedal. This will exert pressure on the brake system with air in the oil pipe. Through repeated pressure application, the chance of braking force recovery can be increased (generally The second or third foot can restore the braking force).
Pull the handbrake to slow down
When the braking force still cannot be recovered, it is necessary to slow down the vehicle by pulling on the handbrake. Two points must be kept in mind when pulling the handbrake:
1. The handbrake cannot be pulled to the end or pulled too fast. Because of vehicle speed, inertia, etc., if the handbrake is pulled too fast or too deadly, the wire rope will be broken and the handbrake will completely fail. Therefore, you should slowly pull the handbrake to the end.
2. When pulling the handbrake, try not to slam the direction, otherwise the rear wheel itself has been locked, and it is easy to cause a side slip or even a rollover accident.
Kick downshift deceleration
For manual transmission models, if the handbrake is slow to decelerate or the handbrake fails, a forced downshift is used to slow down the vehicle speed with engine braking. If the vehicle speed is fast, most of them cannot enter the low gear, so the correct operation is to step on the accelerator, force the low gear, and then step on the accelerator to enter the gear. However, forced downshift deceleration can easily cause the engine speed to soar to exceed the speed limit, which will cause considerable damage to the engine itself. But in line with the principle that the value of life is above everything else, even if the engine is damaged, it must be operated decisively in an emergency.
Friction obstacle deceleration
When it is found that there is a deadly obstacle in front of the vehicle that cannot be avoided, we need to stop the vehicle as soon as possible in the shortest time. At this time, it may be too late to slow down by downshifting. We can directly stop the vehicle as soon as possible by rubbing obstacles such as mountains, railings, trees or buildings on both sides of the road.
If the obstacle is on the left side of the vehicle
Can't rely on dead obstacles. Because if the vehicle speed is fast, a dead obstacle will produce a strong collision force, which will directly act on the driver’s side, which will cause the cab to deform, which will seriously threaten the driver’s life and safety, which is no different from a direct crash. So you have to lean a little, hit back a little, lean against the obstacle, hit back again.
If the obstacle is on the right side of the vehicle
1. If the co-pilot is unmanned, you can slowly stick the vehicle to the obstacle and use the entire area of the body on the right to contact the obstacle to increase friction and make the car stop faster.
2. If the co-pilot is seated, you still need to lean on a hand and drive back to slow down the speed.
In short, for a little abnormality in the brake system
We shouldn't ignore
